The most basic of Spacejoy’s three packages (called “Delight”) includes collaboration with a designer through the site’s messaging platform and a guarantee that your first design will be completed within 10 days. I did. First, they took a “design quiz” that asked them to rate their images of the room and furniture and choose the one they liked best. Spacejoy also wanted to know about my budget, my preferred vendors, and which current items I wanted to keep.
Within a day of submitting these details, I received a message from the designer, Heather, introducing herself. As promised, he completed the first renderings within a week and a half, complete with sofa, accent chair, several tables, window treatments, paint recommendations, etc. Heather sourced her biggest items from her Crate & Barrel, one of my favorite vendors of hers. I was happy that she paid attention to my requests and that her overall design was very much in line with my aesthetic. Spacejoy’s renderings have her 360 degree feature, allowing you to see the room from every angle, so it was easy to imagine what the piece would actually look like.
The Delight package included two revisions, so Heather and I went back and forth on some details. The sofa she chose was a bouclé fabric, a fabric that my fiancé hates. And I was worried that the initial layout wouldn’t provide enough seating. Heather’s solution is a sectional sofa upholstered in a more conventional woven fabric.
At the end of the process, we had five renderings with 3D modeling and a shopping list. Heather’s window treatment and painting recommendations were especially helpful. An added benefit is that her website at Spacejoy was easy to navigate.
