When National Hockey League (NHL) player Corey Perry and his wife Blakeney were looking for their dream home, they wanted to find one in Ontario, Canada. They had lived in California for almost 20 years but wanted to raise a family in Canada. The couple rented a 9,000 apartment with 8 bedrooms, 2 playrooms, 6 bathrooms, gym, pool, library, office, dining room, living room, 2 laundry rooms, 2 powder rooms, and 1 mudroom. We loved our square footage home. and a large backyard. It was the perfect home to raise their son Griffin and live with his English bulldog. However, he had one small problem. The interior didn’t match the relaxed California vibe. The couple turned to luxury design studio Ali Budd Interiors to completely renovate the space.
The home features a neutral color palette that reflects the celebrity couple’s easygoing demeanor. Bud says: “Corey and Blakeney are originally from Canada, but had lived in California for several years. They wanted their Ontario home to maintain the easy-going California feel they had come to love. Home Colors Much of the home is light and airy, but we layered in incredible textures and patterns to create visual interest. This home beautifully decorates the space while maintaining a neutral color palette. It’s a perfect example of how to complicate things.”
The Perrys were clear from the beginning how important having a child- and dog-friendly home was to them. It had to look good, but it was essential that it remained aesthetically pleasing and easy to maintain. “It was important that their home could withstand what their young son and dog threw at them. They didn’t want their home to become a museum. They wanted the whole family to enjoy every space.” Bud reveals.
