An interior designer has shared a list of ‘don’ts’ when it comes to organizing and decorating your kitchen.
In particular, he thinks one design flaw in a home could make the space look like a truck driver’s bathroom rest area.
Phoenix Gray (@mrphoenixgrey) has given himself the title “Design Dad.”
And the expert interior artist posted a video explaining the decorations that should not be used in the kitchen.
“It’s a kitchen design I would avoid,” he said.
First mistake: Overhead potluck.

“Unless you have pots and pans that are clean and in perfect condition, this is a terrible idea,” Gray wrote.
A TikTok user wondered if leaving kitchen tools outside would make the space look more cluttered.
“Seeing the bottom of pots and pans is the last thing you want in the kitchen,” he admitted.
The second mistake is that the cabinet is damaged.
Gray was getting frustrated just thinking about the style of furniture.
He couldn’t understand why people would pay so much money to make their kitchen storage look run down.
His third mistake was laying subway tile throughout the space.
“The kitchen is busy enough already, so there’s no need to overcomplicate it,” he said.
“When you have subway tiles all the way to the ceiling, it looks like a trucker’s bathroom stop.”
If you want to cover your kitchen walls with subway tile, Gray suggested trying a lightweight grout.
Viewers had mixed opinions about Gray’s decorating mistakes.
One woman agreed, saying, “It’s really gross to leave dishes sitting there, and they collect dust and dander.”
“I’m completely against full subway tile. It’s a classic turn-of-the-century kitchen (lol),” one opponent declared.
