If you’ve watched the latest season of The Block, you know the drama going on in Kyle and Leslie’s living room. Although criticized for being too small (and it was!), the space was otherwise praised for its beautiful style, with the highlight of the space being ‘Jessie’s Girl’ and ‘Jessie’s Girl’ by Melbourne artist Adoni Astrinakis of Adoni Art. It was a called artwork.
Melbourne-based Adoni was a talented artist from an early age, but stopped painting after school to pursue a career in business, but ultimately found the lure of the art world too strong. It turns out. “I always had a natural talent, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I picked up a paintbrush again after school, mainly because I was stressed out at work.” Adoni says. His sister Katerina Larsen is also a successful artist. It wasn’t long before Adoni’s quiet outlet became a full-time job and his friends encouraged him to start pursuing a career in art more seriously. “The moment I started his Instagram page and showed my art, it was a big hit. His support was there from the beginning.”
Preferring large scale formats (Adoni’s works are often over 1.5 meters), his works are painted in acrylic and oil. “It’s an impactful, minimalist portrait, with an emphasis on a timeless aesthetic. It’s a fusion of classical portraiture and contemporary aesthetics,” says Adoni, who also works with Da Vinci, Michelangelo, He cites artists such as Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh as inspirations.
As for his current life, Adoni works full time as an artist and his work is available through his website and The Block Shop. Despite the criticism of Kyle and Leslie’s room, the show’s recent reveal was a truly positive experience. “As a professional artist, it’s all about attention, and it’s great to have so many people’s attention on my work,” Adoni says, adding that the room’s space planning and incorrect size Although his criticism of the furniture was justified, he acknowledged that the style of the space is important. Let his artwork shine.
“In terms of using it as a marketing platform, it’s been amazing. Even for people who don’t follow the show, it proves that they’re following an artist who’s leveling up. This exposure increases sales, traffic, It led to attention, and since I’m launching a new collection, that’s all I wanted.”
